Classic Album Sundays presents Pink Floyd “Wish You Were Here” album session with special guest photographer Jill Furmanovsky

The success of Pink Floyd’s 1973 opus “The Dark Side of the Moon”, which stayed on the album charts for nearly 14 years, was staggering and stupendous. It was also completely unanticipated by the band and it affected them in both a positive and negative manner. The positives are easy to imagine – especially the monetary rewards. However, the unwanted attention and the phoney attitudes of the music business were hard to deal with for a band that didn’t even want to hire a PR company. Time to put these feelings to music then and that is exactly what they did with their ensuing album, “Wish You Were Here”.

For this special CAS listening session, in the midst of the exhibition in tribute to Storm Thorgerson who designed the “Wish You Were Here” album cover, we will also be joined by photographer Jill Furmanovsky. Jill extensively photographed the Pink Floyd, including during their “Wish You Were Here” recording sessions. She has also photographed many other of the big names in rock such as  and is the founder ofwww.rockarchive.com. She will be sharing both her stories of working with Pink Floyd and some of her images.

We’ll then listen to the album uninterrupted, on vinyl on an exquisite hi-fi sound system provided by Grahams Hi-Fi. You should hear the album in a way you never have before* .
