The Archivist’s Writer in Residence – Sarah Kosar

The Archivist is proud to announce their inaugural Writer in Residence, Sarah Kosar. For the next 12 months, Sarah will be working with The Archivist in Haggerston to premiere productions of her plays, works in progress and live recordings of her podcast, Kin.

As a local resident in the area, Sarah’s mission with The Archivist is to create and produce new theatrical work that resonates with the Haggerston community. She aspires to tell stories on stage that are theatrical, dangerous and could not be told in any other medium. Her plays invite us into theatrical worlds that look like our own, but whose twisted mechanics expose the absurdity of human behaviour through their hyperreal, cartoonish register.

The Archivist will be partnering with Sarah on the world premiere of her new play Mumburger in The Archivist’s Annex from 9 – 24 July 2016.  Mumburger will be directed by Tommo Fowler.

What is Mumburger about?
‘Tiffany’s mum got hit by a Birdseye truck on the M25. There’s family to call and a coffin to order, but first she has to talk to her dad – and for some reason that’s the toughest thing on her to-do list. On the doorstep, an oozing paper bag holds a dying wish that will either bring father and daughter together, or drive them further apart. ‘

In her visceral play about family, grief and red meat, Sarah asks how far we’d go to reconnect with the ones we love most.
